Alis - It All Goes / Silver

Striking, stripped-back new direction for the London producer previously known as Subeena.

“It’s always nice to reset yourself sometimes,” Sabina Plamenova told Dummy back in June, remarking on her move away from old production name Subeena to current project Alis. “That was then, this is now.” While her first tracks as Alis skirted experimental dance-pop territory, her most recent work (uploaded to her Soundcloud earlier this week) takes a more stripped-back approach. On It All Goes, she layers vocal shapes – abstract calls to some hidden horizon – over rattling beats and rumbling bass. While on Silver an ‘I love you’ appears to cut short, blurred into a swirl of static confusion. The two make a striking pair, and an intriguing new direction for the London producer.
