Aretha Franklin is recording new music with Clive Davis

On the day that she turns seventy, news has surfaced that the soul singer is working on new material with her legendary mentor and producer.

Apparently not exhausted after the ordeal of blowing out seventy candles, Aretha Franklin has announced following her birthday celebrations last night that she is once again collaborating with Clive Davis on new music.

In an interview with the Associated Press at her birthday party on Saturday night, Franklin confirmed that she was “recording with Clive again,” adding “we’re going to sit together and decide what it is we’re going to record.” Davis has long been a mentor to the Queen of Soul, having engineered her hugely successful comeback in the 80s after she signed to his Arista Records imprint.

A new album from the living legend would follow on the heels of 2011’s A Woman Falling Out of Love , and would be her forty fourth studio album in total.
