Daft Punk use '70s-style magazine advertisements to flog merch
Classy mock magazine ads disguise the ludicrous pricing of The Robots' official merchandise.
Daft Punk are flogging some official merch on their website and they've created some vintage-style advertisements to help sell 'em.
Continuing the '70s theme of 'Random Access Memories', the ads hark back to the golden age of magazine spreads, where middle-aged admen would devise the more ingenious copy over a bottle of liquor and a couple of smokes. A golden age where sexism both in the industry and on the adverts was even more endemic. A golden age before 'social media strategies' and 'creative content' existed.
Check the mock posters out below, and browse the merch – including tank tops, posters, belt buckles, and $40 t-shirts – on the Daft Punk official site.
