Dirty Projectors – Gun Has No Trigger

Longstreth and co tone it down over three minutes of bitter pop.

Dirty Projectors have released a new track, Gun Has No Trigger, from their as-yet-untitled album, which is set to appear on Domino Records later this year. Already available to buy on iTunes, the song is a step towards a more conventional mode of song-writing and production for Dave Longstreth, with the band’s hyper-melismatic vocal acrobatics subdued in favour of three minutes of bitter pop, and the line: “But now the gate comes down, the pangs are growing dimmer,
you hold the gun to your head, but the gun has no trigger.”

The band will also join in with the Record Store Day celebrations on 21st April, putting out an unreleased track as part of a the ‘Smuggler’s Way’ Flexidisc zine compiled by Domino and Ribbon. The release also features exclusives from John Maus, Real Estate, Cass McCombs and Villagers.
