Duster announce 25th anniversary re-issue of seminal debut record 'Stratosphere'

Duster's debut album 'Stratosphere' is receiving a 25th anniversary re-issue this September via Numero Group.

San Jose's sonic cure-all for the Y2K hangover that never materialised, the atmospheric indie rock band were, until recently, a largely forgotten band from the late '90s with a small but dedicated cult following keeping the music alive.

But it was the pandemic, and the millions of teen hours spent doom scrolling on TikTok that accelerated the band’s reach and brought with it a new online era of 'Duster-mania'. Suddenly, an 18-year-long hiatus was transformed into numerous headlining tours, selling out venues all over the US while racking up billions of streams along the way.

The band's debut LP 'Stratosphere' remains their most iconic and 2023 marks a full circle moment. Originally released on Up Records in February 1998, this re-issue, out on September 29 comes as a foil-stamped, numbered edition on LP/CD/CASS. The LP editions will be pressed on 180G vinyl and include a lyric sheet and poster.

The band will celebrate the re-issue's release by sending the record to space, as well releasing a range of merch featuring the album's iconic cover, including socks, tote bags and Zippo lighters.

A four-track dreamscape that will wake the neighbours and then lull them back to sleep, the album simultaneously capped off and reinvented slow core’s first wave.

The album can be pre-ordered HERE.
