James Holden’s newest single Renata is a whirlwind of a track, starting out relatively peaceful before launching into something brash and wild, with flashes of bright synth and a low-slung beat driving it through its full six minutes. In the hands of Dan Snaith, AKA Caribou, AKA Daphni (his more dancefloor-oriented alias), the track becomes softer and glossier, sprinkled with female vocal samples and aquatic wobbles that give the whole piece a more restrained and yet somewhat sultry feeling.
