James Holden announces first UK live tour

Ever on-time, Holden announces a live tour to support his 2013 album 'The Inheritors'.

James Holden has announced his first ever UK live tour.

While best known as a DJ – where he uses a custom-designed controller to play elaborate, key-mixed sets – Holden is also a very great musician in the conventional sense and has been performing live at festivals for a couple of years now (before that, he played briefly as part of the Caribou Vibration Ensemble).

For his tour, Holden will bring along jazz drummer Tom Page of Rocketnumbernine to aid him in his modular synth-led live forays. They'll be playing versions of Holden's 2013 album 'The Inheritors', and although it's a little late in the usual album promo cycle, it's likely to be a set worth seeing – Holden's live shows last year were highlights of the festival season.

If you're in London or Amsterdam, you'll be able to catch a slightly different Holden performance – he'll be playing a "Hello Terry Riley" event, where his live sounds will be paired with the tablas of Camilo Tirado to perform a piece inspired by composer Terry Riley (Koreless and Luke Abbott will also perform similar Riley-inspired bits).

James Holden live dates:

April 9th: Hello Terry Riley (with Luke Abbott & Koreless) at Barbican, London
April 10th: Hello Terry Riley (with Luke Abbott & Koreless) at Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam
April 26th: Haunt, Brighton
April 27th: Belgrave Music Hall, Leeds
April 28th: Sage Hall Two, Gateshead
April 29th: Colston Hall, Bristol
April 30th: Kazimier, Liverpool

May 1st: Art School, Glasgow
