Justin Timberlake more likely to star in a movie about music than make any

JT, popstar, in in talks to star as Neil Bogart, the legendary record producer and founder of Casablanca records, meaning that a follow-up to FutureSex/LoveSounds is a long way off.

One of the best pop stars of the last decade is likely to make good his promise to not make any more music for a while, instead focussing on being one of the best movie stars of this coming decade.

Fans of the N*Sync singer will have to consol themselves with news reported by Hollwood magazine Deadline that Justin will star in Spinning Gold, the rags-to-riches tale of Neil Bogart, founder of Casablanca. Bogart grew up in the housing projects of the Bronx, and became one of the most successful record executives in history, after signing KISS, Donna Summer, T Rex, Parliament and so on to his independent label.

“This is saga about a young dreamer who started with nothing and came of age in the ’60s and ’70s, believing anything was possible and every risk was worth taking,” said Tim Bogart, Neil’s son, noting that Spinning Gold has been “literally three decades in the making. When Justin walked into the room, that was the moment I had been waiting for 29 years. He has the exact same energy as my father, the same glimmer in his eye.”

Talks are underway with potential directors, and production is set to begin before the end of 2012.
