Riot breaks out at LA premiere of a rave film

DJ tries to instigate a block party after a rave documentary; Californian ravers lose their 'shit'; riot police end up being called to Grauman's Chinese theatre.

LA police were forced to head to the world-famous Grauman’s Chinese theatre on Wednesday night after thousands of people turned up for an impromptu party on the request of a tweet from DJ Kaskade.

The event was a documentary premiere, showcasing Electric Daisy Carnival Experience , a film recreating and celebrating the atmosphere of the manic Electric Daisy Carnival, the largest dance music festival outside Europe. The mania leapt off-screen on Wednesday, though, when a suggestion from Kaskade that people celebrated with a block party lead thousands of people to take to the streets. Bottles were hurled, squad cars were jumped on, and three people were arrested.

A panic-stricken Kaskade, who struggled to get into the area due to how crowded it was, tweeted “Everybody CHILL OUT!!! The cops are freaking out. BE SAFE AND LET’S HAVE SOME FUN!”, before later using Twitter to urge people to go home. It is too early to state whether he will face any legal action.

In the below video, you can see the gathered rave enthusiasts and the riot police outside the theatre, as well as the furore that ensues when a shot is fired. No-one was hurt.
