Premiere: Cokiyu - Gloomy Monday (aus remix)

aus is the alias of Yasuhiko Fukuzono, label owner and curator at flau and a general busybody on the Japanese electronic music scene. On his remix of Cokiyu’s Gloomy Monday, aus initially seems intent on emphasising the “gloom” factor, dragging lonely synths and reversed cymbal crashes along a halfstep crawl (so far, so forlorn) but quickly gives way to frantic jazz crashes and rapid percussion. Granted it’s not likely to make you cheerful, but it’s far from the doom and gloom you might expect.
