Premiere: Only Real - Blood Carpet (ISSUE remix)

Promising rap avant strips Only Real's latest single back to a dark creeper.

Taking a snip of a synth line and stretching it, ISSUE’s remix of Blood Carpet makes the latent horror of the original blatant. Only Real’s breathless, fragmented story of teenage lust and strife is the closest he’s sounded to his stylistic forerunner Jamie T, and finds a great partner in ISSUE – another lo-fi rapper with an affection for home comforts. The young pair take different paths on the track but, with both stalking a line between loveable goof and evil clown, they make the Bay Area and West London connect surprisingly well.
