Premiere: Sivu - Bodies (Cloud Boat remix)

Where the original is an enchanting piece of folk-rock akin to the output of Wild Beasts, Cloud Boat’s vivid re-imagining of Sivu’s Bodies submerges the singer-songwriter’s vocals into murky waters. Even before the haunting bass and vocals enter, both fraught with nervous energy, from the outset we are certainly in night bus territory. Despite heavily reverbed claps and percussion hits occasionally sobering the listener, emotive strings further add to the palpable tension. And while the tone of Cloud Boat’s remix (and their music in general) is definitely at odds with the lackadaisical connotations of their own name, it definitely strikes a chord with Sivu’s fragile vocals.
