Steve Jobs resigns as head of Apple

The man who brought us the iPod and iTunes has stepped off the throne of Apple.

Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, has stepped down from the leadership of the company he’s helmed since 1976.

One of the most important people in music, thanks to his near-monopoly over MP3 sales through iTunes, the invention of the iPod and the creation of a phone that let’s you make apps to turn it into a drum kit or whatever, Steve will sit as the chairman of Apple’s board, though the day-to-day business of running the tech giant will be someone else’s job. The 55-year-old pancreatic cancer survivor has been on medical leave for an undisclosed condition since the beginning of the year.
