Tributes pour in for Tony Pike, founder of Ibiza's Pike's Hotel
Tony Pike, founder of Ibiza’s legendary Pike’s Hotel, has sadly lost his battle with prostate and skin cancer, according to reports.
The British-born Australian opened the hotel in 1978, which soon became known as an infamous celebrity hangout, hosting Freddie Mercury’s 41st birthday and Wham!’s ‘Club Tropicana‘ video.
Pike sold the venue in 2008 to Ibiza Rocks, saying at the time: “People think I am a multimillionaire because the hotel is sold. The opposite is true.”
Figures in the dance music world have been paying their respects on social media – with many agreeing that he lived life to the fullest.
Sad to hear Tony Pike @PikesHotel has passed away
The place he created has given so many people some of the best memories of their lives & will continue to do so
If there was ever a person who lived life to the full it was HIM!
