Darkstar - A Day's Pay For A Day's Work

If we had our way, Darkstar would be one of the 12 contenders for the best British album  at tonight's Mercury Prize announcement. Ahead of headlining our Dummy AGM on Saturday 28th September, the Warp trio have released a touching new video for A Day's Pay For A Day's Work from their exquisite second album 'News From Nowhere' [Warp, February 2013]. It's got a bit of a Mike Leigh vibe to it – finding the three bandmates taking part in trust building exercises in a rundown community centre – and that detached sense of longing provides a powerful counterpoint to the song's lullaby melody.
