Emika - Professional Loving

Bristol native, Berlin-based artist Emika merges the sounds of dubstep with the dark techno aesthetics associated with the city she lives in to mesmerising effect. Her productions are always wonderfully restrained, fizzing with tension, her pure voice sounding like a work of black magic in amongst the heavy but sparse sounds. She’s releasing an album on Ninja Tune this October, and Professional Loving is the first single to emerge from it, a shadowy piece of brooding sound design. The video shows Emika pouring gasoline and setting fire to a dark hillside, and is suitably moody for the tune. The single Pretend/Professional Loving is out next week on the 5th of September.
