French duo The Blaze pay tribute to rave culture in new short film 'The Poem'
French duo The Blaze mark their return to directing with their sixth self-produced music video, titled 'The Poem', which is set to the track 'Madly' from their latest album 'Jungle'.
The new film is an ode to rave culture, festivals and all of the freedom they give, following the perspective of a 13-year-old teenager, Liam, who presents a poem to his school mates about his first ever experience attending a rave over the summer holidays.
'The Poem' continues in the same cinematographic vein that Guillaume and Jonathan Alric, the producers-directors behind The Blaze, have created ever since their first track. However, the new film also differs dramatically from their previous works.
“In this video, the music is almost pushed into the background,” they explain. “Its functions as a soundtrack, which accompanies the narrative rather than leading it. In fact, we actually rewrote a whole section of the track so that it fit perfectly with this teenager’s story.”
“It’s a wild and almost primitive, festive setting, in which the main character will have a life-changing experience,” adds The Blaze, who will spend their summer on the road, playing festivals and headline shows across Europe and North America.
