Liars - I Saw You From the Lifeboat
After releasing their sixth album, WIXIW last year, the LA-based noise punk trio Liars have dropped two brand new tracks free to download, I Saw You From The Lifeboat and Perfume Tear, as well as a video from the former. Featuring a hyper-speed insight into the band’s no doubt fragmented touring lives and accompanied by a curved and brittle synth-line with an unstoppable forward trajectory, I Saw You From The Lifeboat bears a striking resemblance to their divisive 2004 dance punk break away album ‘They Were Wrong So We Drowned’. And that’s not mentioning the watery motifs and literary title.
We do exist in a looping cyber world of eternal feedback, after all, so the relentless imagery, coupled with Angus Andrew’s lobotomised slur could be saying something about internet hyperculture, even if it’s nothing at all.
