Mount Kimbie - Carbonated

Carbonated really was a 2010 anthem. Its woozy beats, churning piano chords and broken female vocals gave it a slow-burn quality, allowing it to penetrate, ferment and grow stronger in the mind with each listen. Mount Kimbie knew it – the official release of their ‘Carbonated’ EP earlier this year proved it as one of people’s favourite tracks on their Hotflush released album ‘Crooks & Lovers’ (which was also our album of last year).

This video for Carbonated is directed by London photographer and film-maker Tyrone Lebon, who has so far made all the artwork and videos for Dom and Kai’s releases. It follows a bunch of people walking through the streets of London following a night out clubbing, with flashbacks to the dancefloor. In Lebon’s words, “It is about trying to find beauty of young people being of a certain age – it plays on the themes of solitude and individual experiences that happens in life often in company of other people. If you go out to a club with friends, you share an experience together but you also have your own unique solitary moments of the night like walking home alone and noticing little details of the city or even whilst still on the dancefloor.”
