Naira Marley celebrates his newfound freedom in the video for 'Soapy'
Back in June, Lagos artist Naira Marley was arrested by the Nigerian government after his satirical track with Zlatan, ‘Am I A Yahoo Boy‘, caused outrage amongst the country’s conservative elites.
Now a free man (mass protests were staged after Marley’s arrest), the underground breakout star has responded with ‘Soapy’, a track that takes aim at corruption in his native country while also discussing prison life.
The accompanying visual has just dropped, finding Naira donning an orange jumpsuit and performing a dance he learnt from his fellow inmates while behind bars, while everyone from Burna Boy to Davido have jumped on the ‘Soapy’ dance trend.
Watch the video now above.
‘Soapy’ is out now via MOVES Recordings.
