Premiere: Zola Jesus - Dangerous Days

Remember when Zola Jesus first came about and everyone talked about her growing up in the woods? That's what her new Tim Saccenti-helmed video for Dangerous Days, a single from her upcoming album 'Taiga', calls to mind as it veers between the inherently elemental and the kinetic, her past, present, and future, "eschewing a heavy narrative we let the images of the Earth, filmed in wide screen and mixed with a tense unnatural presence, wash over the viewer while Nika communicates her powerful message," according to Saccenti.

We see her as a figurine that looks like icebergs made out of folded paper. About halfway through, Saccenti renders her from a flitting, levitating, and spindly orb into a purple-blue static person made out of sound waves like a different spin on the old iPod commercials. But once the video is over, what really sticks are the shots of Nika Danilova standing in a boat, wrapped in what looks like a hairy gray mohair pelt of sorts.

Mute release 'Taiga' on October 6th 2014 (pre-order).
