SBTRKT on the decks at SXSW

SBTRKT was out in Austin, Texas, last week for the annual gigathon in the sun that is SXSW. I caught the end of his live set with Sampha at the Fader Fort on the Saturday – they sounded good, with Sampha’s sandy, warm tones reaching far beyond the venue’s castle-like barriers – but it was a couple of nights previous that I had a real heart-melt moment. DJ-ing between Grimes and A$AP Rocky – yes, that’s an indication of just how big SBTRKT is now – on an Austin carpark rooftop at the Spotify party, he dropped one of my favourite songs of all time (yes, all time): Jacques Greene’s Another Girl.
