Wildarms - Acceptance

I learnt that Duncan Cooper loved Lil B – I really mean loved – when I read through his full transcription of The BasedGod’s lecture at NYU over on The Fader early last year, a lecture which Cooper would later describe as “rambling and mesmerizing”. When he’s not a music writer, Cooper also produces music under the name Wildarms, a not-quite-hip-hop take on hip hop which – true to the teachings and preachings of Lil B – is uplifting, inspirational and at one with itself.

Wildarms’ new track has a video that features slowed-down footage of a Lil B concert. There’s something in both the music and the slo-mo video that’s both quite joyful but imperceptibly sad. Not sad in a depressive way, but an accepting one – a feeling that something has changed, not necessarily for the worse, but in a way that can never be the same again. The track is called Acceptance, which might go some way to explaining this.

Cascine will release Wildarms’ ‘Clear Eyes’ EP on February 5th.
