Yen Tech - Forever Ballin

The attention to detail in this, yeah, ballin’ video to Chicago pop-step singer/producer Yen Tech’s debut single Forever Ballin is quite something. The lasers, the lingering looks, the waistband of his Tommy briefs peeking out the top of his white jeans: this guy has boy band moves down to an art. That’s the point, of course: Yen Tech’s image is all about “playing on tropes of Top 40 bad boy bravado and manufactured pop self-awareness,” says producer/singer/topless man in the video Nick Newlin. Forever Ballin is co-produced by Gatekeeper’s Aaron David Ross who explains it’s “riffing on this big room, EDM dubstep sound”. Thanks to Ross’ involvement there’s an HD-finish to the production that makes it enjoyable (if you’re not familiar with HD BOYZ, you’re in for a treat), not least because you can almost hear the pair dissecting the science behind a banger.

Yen Tech’s Forever Ballin will feature on his forthcoming ‘REVENGEANCE’ mixtape.
