A 8m-high boombox

1024 is a label created by François Wunschel and Pierre Schneider that maps interactions between space, sound, visual, light, architecture and city. “We make audio-visual installations, micro-architecture, urban intervention, performances, exhibitions and others,” they say.

Their latest peice is BOOM-Box a DJ performance installation that pays homage to the beloved ghetto blaster.

The 16×8m structure is built to resemble a high-tech tape deck, and designed using custom software called BOOM-Boxer, which uses a Playstation 3 controller to trigger 3D projected imagery in tune to the music.

The Creators Project and WeLoveArt, have invited LFO, Actress, Miss Kittin and Jackson to play “in” the BOOM-Box on the 29th of October at La Grande Halle de La Villette in Paris.
