Austra – Crying (Roy Orbison cover) [stream]

I’ve sat on the fence about Toronto opera singer Katie Stelmanis’s Austra project for most of this year (while her voice is as powerful as when she was being a tongue-in-cheek goth, a lot of the synths just didn’t do it for me), but this cover of Roy Orbison’s Crying is really quite something. Out on the deluxe edition of her album ‘Feel It Break’ on the 11th December through Domino.
