boyhood. teases his forthcoming EP with experimental new single 'Easy'
New York based singer, songwriter, and producer boyhood. returns with his brand new single 'Easy'.
Lifted from his upcoming EP, the new track follows previous offering 'Crash' which came out back in August 2022. Building on the theme of blossoming relationships and new beginnings, 'Easy' continues to display a more polished approach to the same experimental sound.
"‘Easy’ follows ‘Crash’ and builds on this theme through the lens of a new relationship with a person you care deeply about," says boyhood. "This song is about wanting to feel reliable and stable, but knowing that you’re not quite there yet. It’s about wanting very much to not ruin things, but worrying that it might be inevitable.”
Combining the artist's distinctive vocal style with left-field dance production, boyhood. further carves out his own style as he approaches the release of his new project.
“This EP explores the complicated experience of emerging from a long period of depression and apathy - the joy of feeling again, but also the difficulty of pulling yourself out," boyhood. adds.
As a trans man, the name “boyhood.” is an evolving homage to the experience of having had an unconventional one, and an exploration of how a repressed and limited childhood has influenced a full and intentional adulthood.
