emo pop artist hidingthehurt is breaking out of the self-destructive cycle with 'Tinted Glasses'

“I want to be the UK's biggest emo popstar!"

hidingthehurt releases anthemic emo pop single ‘Tinted Glasses’ marking a new chapter of acceptance and breaking out of the self-destructive cycle that his previous releases like ‘FWhatTheySay’ and ‘wait4me‘ were part of. The nineteen-year-old from Nottingham whose real name is Ollie Greenhalgh, has also announced forthcoming EP, set to be an introspective confrontation of his own mind, the good and the bad.

On the new single he explains: “Taking off the tinted glasses is what we all do when we move on from someone and realise that our perception was truly guiding our emotions surrounding them.”

The singer-songwriter cites Lil Peep, Kid Cudi, Alanis Morrissette, The Smiths and Joy Division as key influences – for their ability to open up, which is something that hidingthehurt hugely respects. Ollie, who is a history and philosophy student has a talent for raw soul-bearing lyricism himself, saying he wants his listeners to see the real him; he receives many messages from fans telling him that they’re keeping him alive.

When asked what his biggest ambition is, he says; “I want to be the UK’s biggest emo popstar.” It looks like he’s on the right track.

‘Tinted Glasses’ is out now on Intersect via DMY.
