Future Islands - Before The Bridge [MP3]

Punching his chest, falling to his knees, clutching at the air in front of him and all the time sweating like there’s no tomorrow – there aren’t many frontman who mean it like Samuel T Herring from Baltimore band Future Islands means it. To watch Future Islands live is to surrender completely: you can’t help but be swept up in their passion – it’s so visceral, so infectious. And you can feel all of that in new song Before The Bridge (download the MP3 on the right), a 7” precursor to their forthcoming third album on Thrill Jockey later this year. Synth, bass, keys, drum machine and Herring’s voice all rush together, racing to ecstasy, towards that head-back, arms-outstretched moment. There’s nothing for it but give in, let go.

Catch Future Islands at Plan B, Brixton this Saturday 9th July (buy tickets). Thrill Jockey will release the Before The Bridge/Find Love 7” on July 18th
