Alt-pop riser Lauren Presley returns with ‘Straitjacket,’ a brooding, razor-edged single that takes aim at the insidious gaslighting trope with sharp sarcasm and emotional precision. Built on eerie melodies and a slow-burning cinematic pulse, the track flips the “crazy woman” stereotype on its head, with Presley sneering back, “Put me in a straitjacket,” a lyric that cuts directly at the weaponisation of female emotion.
Her powerhouse vocal sits front and centre, carrying a defiant charge reminiscent of Halsey, Nessa Barrett, and Kenzie, while the track’s dark-pop atmosphere feels tailor-made for late-night alt playlists and Halloween moodscapes.
The release arrives with a music video produced by Working Holiday. It’s a deliberately bold moment, one that builds on Presley’s growing reputation for fearless honesty and polished pop intensity.
Originally from Redwater, Texas and now based in Nashville, Presley has carved out a genre-blurring world of alt-pop, dark pop, and rock, rising to prominence with her breakout EP, ‘Hanging In The Balance’ and viral hit ‘People Leave’ .
On ‘Straitjacket,’ Lauren Presley sharpens her artistic core: bold, bruised, and completely unafraid to stare down the narrative.
'Straightjacket' is out now via Thursdays At Midnight.
