Mahalia pairs up with MNEK for new single, 'When You're Ready'

The wonderful Mahalia is back with her new single ‘When You’re Ready’ – oozing with sultry, teasing lyrics and playful confidence, the single samples from Montell Jordan’s ‘Get It On Tonite’.

About the track, Mahalia says “I’m so gassed to be releasing this song… I was going through a breakup at the time and really wanted to capture this part of that process. It’s my new summer jam. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do!”

‘Whenever You’re Ready’ offers a contemporary take on early noughties R&B, with short stabs of hi-hats, ascending bass-synths and harmonies inviting comparisons to Destiny’s Child or TLC.

The track was produced by Two Inch Punch and co-written with MNEK who says “There always has been something so special about what Mahalia brings to music and I’m glad the world is seeing it. Her pen, her voice, her vulnerability, her vibe – I love her and this song a lot.”

In 2020 the Leicester-born singer featured on the esteemed Pa Salieu’s ‘Send Them To Coventry’ Mixtape; on a track in Headie One’s No. 1 album ‘Edna’; received her second BRIT nomination; a GRAMMY for Jacob Collier’s ‘All I Need’ that she appeared on beside Ty Dolla Sign, and took home two of her three MOBO nominations – ‘Best Female Act’, ‘Best R&B/Soul Act’ with her debut album ‘Love and Compromise’.
