Oceanna Step Boldly Into Their Sound on Self-Titled Debut EP

The Dublin jazz quintet blends Irish and Brazilian influences into a rich, genre-defying debut.

Dublin-based jazz collective Oceanna have released their long-awaited debut EP, 'Oceanna,' a five-track statement that cements them as one of Ireland’s most exciting emerging acts.

Since forming in 2022, the quintet have been quietly building a reputation for their atmospheric, groove-driven sound, and on their self-titled debut, they showcase both versatility and vision.

Recorded over two weekends at Black Mountain Studios, the EP reflects the group’s wide-reaching influences, from nu-jazz trailblazers like Kokoroko and Alfa Mist to the psychedelic textures of modern indie. Across the five tracks, swelling guitar tones, delicate keys, grounding bass, and understated drums form a luminous backdrop for soaring trumpet melodies. The result is music that feels at once transportive and intimate - as the band themselves put it, “Each of the 5 songs expresses very distinct feelings and emotions, but also allows the listener to explore the elements that tie the piece together as a whole.”

Since the release of their first single 'Noir' in 2022, Oceanna have built momentum through headline shows and festival slots at All Together Now, Body & Soul, and The Sugar Club. They’ve collaborated with Irish artists Qbanaa and JyellowL, and shared stages with Ruby Waters on her European tour.

To mark the release, Oceanna will embark on an Irish tour, kicking off with an EP launch party at Dublin’s Bewley’s Café on 12th October. For a band already praised for their organic stage presence, the shows promise to bring their cinematic sound to vivid life.

'Oceanna' is out now.
