England's 10pm curfew restrictions could remain in place for six months
New lockdown restrictions being rolled out across England could remain in place for six months, in a fresh bid to limit the rising coronavirus infections.
Boris Johnson outlined that the new rules will become a legal requirement, with the UK at a “perilous turning point” in the fight against the disease.
Starting Thursday, September 24, all hospitality, leisure, entertainment and tourism businesses will have to shut from 10pm til 5am and will be restricted to table service.
People have also been urged to work from home where possible, with a warning that the daily deaths will continue to increase if the new rules are not followed. The Prime Minister said that people should expect the new changes to be in place for six months. It’s possible that the military could be drafted in to help the police enforce the rules.
The announcement comes after the UK’s Covid-19 alert level moved to 4, which means the virus transmission is “high or rising exponentially”.
The new restrictions bring more bad news to music and live events businesses, who were hoping to re-open their doors for gigs in mid-August. It’s now likely there will be further delays.
A new Musicians’ Union report has revealed that up to a third of musicians could quit during the coronavirus pandemic, with 88% of all registered musicians believing that the government has not done enough to support them.
With the furlough scheme due to end in October, a petition has been launched demanding that the government extend their support for those involved in the live music industry.
Anyone watching this update and just see the questions on performing arts / live music etc and the answer to it? 😂😂😂
In short. We all need to find another job.
