Irvine Welsh is putting out an acid house album
As reported by the Scottish Sun, Edinburgh-born author Irvine Welsh is planning to release a dance album.
Best known for the 1993 novel Trainspotting, the 60-year-old writer has written extensively about themes surrounding clubbing, and said the release aims to inject “fun and humour” into the electronic music scene, adding it was a “counterblast” to joyless young artists who don’t dance.
He said: “It’s not really banging, full-on mad stuff, but it’s a lot of classic acid house – swirling effects and noises and boomy basslines. Some of it is pretty groovy.”
Welsh has been playing the tracks in guest DJ slots on a promo tour for his latest book Dead Men’s Trousers.
There’s no release date for the album as of yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for further details.
