Nilüfer Yanya, Caity Baser and The Mysterines headline War Child UK's Day of the Girl event series
Nilüfer Yanya, Caity Baser and The Mysterines are all set to perform intimate live shows in venues across London and Manchester next month in support of War Child UK's Day of the Girl event series.
Coinciding with the UN’s International Day of the Girl Child - a day promoting girl's empowerment and fulfilment of their human rights - War Child UK's run of shows aims to create a moment that highlights the specific challenges girls and young women face around the world. It will also raise vital funding to help War Child protect, educate, and stand up for the rights of children affected by conflict.
Caity Baser will kick off the series of events alongside Charlotte Plank and Bellah Mae on 9th October at Lafayette, London, followed by Nilüfer Yanya with Léa Sen, Trout and Jazzi Bobbi at Bush Hall, London on 11th October, and finally The Mysterines, with Lime Garden and Hannah Grae, who will be playing at Gorilla, Manchester on 12th October.
War Child is the only specialist charity for children affected by conflict. For more than two decades, the charity been ensuring safe futures for children living through war. They aim to reach children as early as possible when conflict breaks out and support them long after the cameras have gone.
Charlotte Nimmo, Head of Fundraising Engagement at War Child said: “We are thrilled to launch Day of The Girl 2023. We are grateful for the support of all the musicians who will help us in amplifying the importance of the issues spotlighted by this event series. This collaborative effort will also raise vital funds to support War Child’s work. Girls and young women living in conflict zones endure impossible circumstances. Through provisions such as aid, education, and psychosocial support, War Child empowers young women who refuse to be defined by the horrors of war.”
Tickets to the shows go on pre-sale this Thursday 7th September, and general sale this Friday 8th September priced at £25.
