Samoyed - Minnow
A tender melody to calm fretting spirits from the Scottish producer with an ear for the exquisite.
Scottish producer Samoyed has a gentle way with tone; melodies handled with such tenderness they float. I fell for his Angel St Nunez track that he posted on Youtube back in February and now here’s Minnow, a slight little thing; all shimmery and sad. It reminded me of a Khalil Gibran line my best friend gave me on a bit of scrappy paper years ago when I was sad: “Is not the lute that soothes your spirit the very wood that was hollowed out with knives?” It’s vaguely corny in the way all poignant, important things are, and I had that bit of paper on my wall for years. The memory of it is still warm. Minnow has that spirit too.
