Shacklewell Arms will host a punk event in aid of torture victims this Sunday

This Sunday, December 2nd, the Shacklewell Arms will be hosting an all-day punk event to raise money and awareness for charity organisation Freedom From Torture. The essential underground London label Sexbeat have helped assemble the line-up, which is set to include Danish post-punk saviours Iceage, Mazes, who formed in Manchester in 2009, and Cardiff’s Chain of Flowers. Speaking on the band’s involvement, Joshua Smith from Chain of Flowers said:

“Freedom from Torture speaks up for the survivors of torture and organised violence, alerting people of the unthinkable experiences these people have been through. These events are an incredible way to spread the word of what this charity does for these people, and we are really happy to be a part of it.”

The Freedom From Torture group have been operating for 25 years, and is one of the world’s few purpose-built treatment centres for torture victims. Tickets for the event will cost £7 with all proceeds going to Freedom From Torture charity, and are available to buy here. The festival will continue with events throughout December, culminating in a sold-out Bombay Bicycle Club gig at Koko on 22nd December.
