Six unreleased songs by The Weeknd

Some new/old tracks by the suddenly huge, still cold Canadian R&B producer were leaked last night.

We witnessed how The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) has cemented his most-sought-after-artist-of-2011 status when the hypnotic and sultry R&B ‘House of Balloons’ mixtape came out back in March, and went on to top 200,000 downloads in the first month. Two days ago, six previously unreleased tracks were leaked, possibly by Abel himself, though he denies it.

They don’t appear to be a set release in the way ‘House Of Balloons’ was, but a mixed bag of off-cuts – some of Tesfaye’s early material from when he used to work in a music group called The Noise, a Drake demo and so on. Still very good though.
