UNTOLD and Neversea pledge their festival equipment to Romanian hospitals

Masks and coronavirus tests are also being provided as part of the UNITED initiative

Two Romanian music festivals, UNTOLD and Neversea, have pledged to commit their resources to local authorities to help fight the current coronavirus pandemic.

Formed by UNTOLD, the UNITED initiative is a strategy developed in partnership with the Romanian authorities and their partners to try and fulfil the needs of the healthcare staff working on the frontline against Covid-19.

So far, UNITED has ensured 4000 square meters of temporary flooring, 4000 square meters of geotextile and six floodlight mobile lighting towers were delivered into Constanta, Romania, to build a mobile hospital, amid increasing pressure on the healthcare system to provide beds for patients.

UNTOLD festival and its parters Cognizant SoftVision and Transilvania Bank, have also donated more than 12,000 COVID-19 tests to hospitals in Cluj.

The same team also bought masks, gloves and disinfectant materials as well as donating technological equipment to the local authorities.

The use of festival equipment to erect pop-up health facilities has become a popular move during the recent pandemic. Choura Events, the company in charge of building Coachella’s stages are now building coronavirus emergency tents in California.

Despite the current fight against coronavirus in Romania and across the globe, both of the festivals are still planning on taking place this summer.

Neversea is scheduled to take place between July 2-5 in Constanta. UNTOLD, whose 2019 edition we reviewed last year, is to take place between July 31 – August 2, in Cluj-Napoca.
