ALA.NI - Cherry Blossom

ALA.NI is an artist from London (where else?) who you're just as likely to find making music videos and producing as singing and songwriting.

She's a 'new artist', but not a new new artist – in the past, ALA.NI was a backing singer for the likes of Damon Albarn and Mary J. Blige, so you know you're dealing with some serious talent.

Now, she's stepping up as her own artist, and a taste of her debut EP 'You & I Spring' is Cherry Blossom. Led by steel guitar, Cherry Blossom is lush yet melancholy, nostalgic yet somehow haunting, soothing yet sad. ALA.NI explains the song through a poem:

My love for you was sprung in Spring
And flourished in the Summer sun
Autumn killed the fresh green leaves
By Winter all was said and done

ALA.NI is touring the UK shortly with XL Recordings duo Ibeyi. Before that, she'll play at the David Lynch-designed Club Silencio in Paris, which seems like a perfect fit. Peep those dates below.
