Max Cooper turns in experimental new visual by filmmaker Connor Griffith
Max Cooper announces his first new music of 2023 with a new single and music video, 'Vertebrae / Forgotten Places' featuring Kathrin deBoer.
Fans of the London-based music producer will know just how much emphasis he places on visuals. Synonymous for his ethereal sounds and visually hypnotic live performances, this new offering is a glitchy, face-melting drum 'n' bass track that maps out plans for his forthcoming EP 'Motif'.
The new music video was created by director and experimental filmmaker Conner Griffith. Via drones and reductive video processing, Griffith created a technique for turning cities into layered Escher-esc scenes, with structures and human activity mapped to the elements of the music.
Speaking about the upcoming EP, out October 6, Cooper says: “The mixture of genres on this record might make more sense looking at my life in electronic music. Beginning in the 90’s with an upbringing on classic synth pop and classical music, then my first tape “Prodigy Experience”, and first night out at their Breathe Tour ahead of a delve deep into the Trance, Techno and remnants of Rave of the late 90’s in Northern Ireland and Ibiza. I then moved to Nottingham in ‘99 and went to my first Drum and Bass night at the Marcus Garvey Ballroom, after which I started integrating those records into my collection.”
