The 11 best bass guitar anthems, according to Thundercat

Thundercat is a LA musician who makes psychedelic jazz funk for the digital age. His excellent album ‘The Golden Age Of The Apocalypse’ was produced by Flying Lotus, he plays in Suicidal Tendencies and he’s in London tomorrow night as part of Ninja Tune’s takeover of Fabric, and if there’s one thing he knows about, it’s basslines. I love this tune so much because it reminds me of my walk in life with her. We were very close at one time.
Fly Into This Night – Gino Vanelli
I remember being hungry to hear something when I was younger and it was hard to fill that void I was feeling sonically, and I discovered the album ‘Gist of The Gemini’. I sat in my car in front of my house for hours listening to this song. What an experience.
True – Spandau Ballet
I like it because its awesome. Simple as that.
Seed Of Memory – Terry Reid
I love this song so much because it’s so inspirational. I feel every bit of the song. It’s very sobering and beautiful.
Spring Yard Zone – Masato Nakamura
This is one of the songs off of the original soundtrack of Sonic the Hedgehog. Throughout life it has stuck with me because of its beautiful melody and changes. It’s a good example of lines being blurred creatively. Amazing composed video game music.
Vulcan Princess – Stanley Clarke
It reminds me of Erykah Badu.

This is a good example of awesome rock music. I am good buddies with the band, I got a few chances to tour with them. And enjoyed it a lot. And I also am a gigantic fan of heavy metal.
Sex In The Kitchen – R Kelly
I had to pull my car over when I heard that song. It’s awesome. I didn’t know what to do. I don’t think I had a girlfriend when that song came out so I just sat in my car stuck. Couldn’t call anyone to make love to. So I just looked stupid for a second and then kept driving. Went home and played with nunchucks and brass knuckles and went to sleep. Woke up the next morning horny as hell!
