Drake, the king of nowever

“Are you drunk right now?” says a female voice down a phone on Marvin’s Room, the centrepiece to Drake’s recently leaked second album ‘Take Care’. Drake is drunk right now, drunk on now. As he goes on to say in the same song, he’s having a hard time adjusting to fame and the result is

“I think I was numb to it last year but now I know it more ever,” says Drake in his drone-y, drawling voice on Over My Dead Body,

“Having a hard time adjusting to fame…

Drake, the most emotionally lucid rapper of our time, most real, is also the king of the extended moment, of wallowing in the moment to the point of absurdity.

He is so emotional, so present in the moment, so wrapped up in feeling everything right here, right now.

It’s no coincidence that the Nicki track he dropped lines on was Moment 4 Life.

The centrepiece is the much discussed Marvin’s Room,

Drake’s new album ‘Take Care’ is released on November 15th 2011
