Steve Reich to play Proms in London

Described as “The most original music thinker of our time” by the New Yorker, Steve Reich, an really excellent and much loved composer who has had untold influence on compositional and electronic music and is surprisingly giggly in real life, will be playing the Proms. The classical music festival held at London’s Royal Albert Hall will feature a performance on the 10th August, 2011, of his masterwork (in Alex Ross’s words ) Music for 18 Musicians.
