Artful Dodger - Please Don't Turn Me On (Disclosure remix)

Besides New York in blackout and the Mobot, one of 2012’s most defining images must surely have been the Disclosure face, an image of a vacant visage slapped on top of anybody that the youthful duo have remixed or collaborated with.

The most recent artist to have received the Disclosure face is Artful Dodger (yes, of Re-Rewind fame), whose turn-of-the-millenium garage hit Please Don’t Turn Me On has been taken to town courtesy of the duo and turned into a hi-fidelity swung house track. Critics might accuse the edit of being Disclosure-by-numbers, but this would be doing the track an extraordinary disservice. Rather, it’s the sound of a group totally comfortable and assured of their own sound, and executing it with aplomb. Best of all, it comes as a free download.
