Grimes – Vanessa [MP3]

This track, Grimes’s Vanessa, which premiered over at Weekly Tape Deck is so clear (not to say a bit icky) that it sounds like she’s singing in your inner ear. The whole album is great, and much like my personal inner ear, has bits of late 1990s electronic music floating around it.

d’Eon and Grimes (Claire Boucher to her proverbials) are mates from Montreal, Canada, that have put together a split LP on Hippos In Tanks. They’re both big Dummy favourites, and ‘Dark Bloom’, from which Vanessa is taken, is 30 minutes of pretty, intimate, imaginative and kind of funny-sounding electronic pop music, which you’ll probably really enjoy.

Hippos In Tanks will release d’Eon and Grimes’s split LP ‘Dark Bloom’ on the 11th April 2011
