Jeff Darko Unveils ‘Merry Go Round’ EP
Jeff Darko, the British-Ghanaian artist redefining modern soul, has released his new EP, 'Merry Go Round'.
Fusing hip-hop, jazz, bossa nova, and his signature “Psychedelic Gospel” sound, the project is a masterclass in musical innovation, balancing cultural rhythms with contemporary flair.
The EP’s standout track, 'Les Quatre Cents Coups', showcases Darko at his most experimental, weaving delicate melodies and sophisticated urban beats into a seamless, hypnotic groove. Collaborating with London-based producer Caesar, Darko crafts a soundscape infused with the warmth of J Dilla-esque textures and an understated elegance that feels both nostalgic and entirely fresh.
Darko describes his unique genre, Psychedelic Gospel, as a blend of soul, R&B, electronica, African jazz, and alternative pop. Inspired by the Greek roots of “psychedelic” (soul-revealing) and gospel’s spiritual essence, the EP delves into themes of vulnerability, truth, and human connection.
Having previously received sonic comparisons to Childish Gambino and Frank Ocean, Darko continues to push boundaries with his fresh sound.
