Outstraight Records Drop 7-Track EP, 'Being Outstraight'

It's the Dublin-based label's inaugural release

Outstraight Records is anything but a one-trick pony. The record label, publishing house, and multi-disciplinary events group, is celebrating almost ten years of game-changing contributions to the music and culture scene in Ireland. Starting out in 2015, Outstraight Records re-positioned its focus to music releases in 2020.

After banking their most successful year in music in 2023, Outstraight Records plans to make even more of a mark with the launch of their debut record release, the aptly-titled EP, 'Being Outstraight'.

Boasting seven high-energy bangers from a range of the collective's ten members, the record offers up seven hip-hop tracks with a distinctly Dublin flavour.

On lead single, 'Drive Around,' Graham takes centre stage with a captivating rap performance, one which has now become synonymous with the Irish hip-hop scene. Featuring traditional boom bap sounds, the song's laid-back bassline and drum beat, this is one for fans of Loyle Carner and Freddie Gibbs.

Elsewhere, 'Ruckus,' spotlights Outstraight's founder, Lewis Kenny, with a spoken word intro. Lyrically, the tune gives a glimpse into the lives of artists in today's Ireland. It's indicative of the rest of the EP, which meditates candidly on the societal landscape of the country.

'Being Outstraight' is a statement of Outstraight Records' purpose and outlook, illustrating the power of Irish rap and signifying their dedication to providing a platform for local hip-hop artists.

'Being Outstraight' is out now on Outstraight Records.
