Premiere: D/R/U/G/S - The Source of Light

The name D/R/U/G/S suggests the more abrasive ends of modern dance music – slashes and capital letters tend to do that – but his single The Source of Light is really nice, nodding to the rave-y pop of Madonna’s Ray of Light.

The tightly structured track loops over and over, but rather than grinding down it grows, with shiny synth melodies and a weightless female vocal à la Clams Casino breaking through and giving a glimpse of euphoria. The Source of Light is tough but there’s a gloss to it that marks it out and stands it in good pop stead. Download the radio edit exclusively below.
