Premiere: theclosing - schnatterlied

Based in Vienna, Austria, the three friends who comprise glitchy experimental trio theclosing coax inviting landcapes from field recordings and samples. They’ve been doing it for eight years so, as you might well imagine, are now rather good at it. Taken from their forthcoming self-titled debut album on Portland label Circle Into Square, the crudely named schnatterlied (download it below) belies its contents – I wrote just one word down when I first listened: lovely. It builds slowly, spluttering into a life that grows stronger with every breath. Wheels turn, sparks fly and love comes.
